A historic moment in Israel and another huge win for a WIZO-sponsored piece of legislation. The Electronic Restraint Act passed on what’s called in Israel the first reading, putting it on the right track to being approved in the Knesset in the near future.

Once it passes the final stages, any man who has received a restraining order, and his risk assessment is defined as high, will be required to wear an electronic handcuff. The handcuff will send an alert to the man, the victimized woman and a hotline, if the man violates the order.

This life-saving new order has been 10 years in the making. Persistence pays off.
